Telkom will no longer be supporting Telkom copper landlines.
Telkom recently announced the discontinuation of all copper telephone line, phone line network infrastructure in certain exchange areas.
The cost of maintaining the old legacy copper line infrastructure has become very expensive, and they will no longer be replacing damaged or stolen copper telephone line, phone line cables.

Due to the high cost of replacing these copper cables, and due to the high risk of ongoing copper cable theft Telkom has decided to discontinue the copper landline telephone services in these affected areas.
